In the heart of Power City, sixteen-year-old Kofi Johnson lived a double life a science prodigy by day and a hip-hop dreamer by night. When his father, a world-renowned archaeologist, invited him on a dig in Egypt, Kofi had no idea his destiny was buried beneath the desert sands.
Separated from his father, Kofi stumbled into a hidden chamber glowing with ancient light. There he discovered The Book of Knowledge, guarded by Ausar, God of the Perfect Black. Seeing the purity in Kofi’s heart, Ausar bestowed upon him the book’s power. When Kofi shouted the sacred word, he transformed his hair rose into a mighty afro, his body pulsed with cosmic energy, and his spirit burned with purpose. Afro-Man was born gifted with flight, the strength of 700 men, steel-like skin, and speed beyond measure, all powered by the binary solar system itself.
At first, Kofi struggled to balance life as a teen and a hero. After a few daring rescues, the media dubbed him Afro-Man, a name he proudly embraced. Determined not to fight alone, he shared the book’s magic with his friends Jeanette (AUSET), Marty (POWER-KID), and Steve (WONDER BROTHER), forming Afro-Man and The Protectors heroes united to defend truth, culture, and humanity.
